Rudolf Ritter von Alt was a prominent Austrian landscape and architectural painter, celebrated for his mastery of watercolors. A leading figure of the Biedermeier period, he produced thousands of works depicting the topography and interiors of the Austro-Hungarian Empire. He was a founding member of the Vienna Künstlerhaus and served as the honorary president of the Vienna Secession later in his life.
