Martin Hotter was born in Crailsheim, Germany. He trained as a carpenter before studying at the Academy of Fine Arts Nuremberg and later under Heimo Zobernig at the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna. Based in Vienna, his work recontextualizes functional materials and exhibition displays as performative sculptural elements, exploring the boundaries between the utilitarian and the aesthetic.
