Born in Ehime, Japan, Naoya Takahara graduated from Tama Art University before relocating to Rome, Italy, in 1977. His artistic practice focuses on the transformation of materials and objects into 'conceptual plastic concepts', often drawing inspiration from Italian artists of the 1960s such as Giulio Paolini and Piero Manzoni.
