Lida Abdul was born in Kabul and is a prominent visual artist whose work explores the physical and psychological landscapes of post-war Afghanistan. Her practice, which includes video and performance, often addresses themes of ruin, reconstruction, and cultural identity. She represented Afghanistan at its first national pavilion at the 2005 Venice Biennale.
