DESCRIPTION
Louis Pons (1927–2021) was a self-taught French artist born in Marseille. He gained renown for his intricate India ink drawings of fantastic creatures and later for his assemblages made from discarded objects and 'junk.' His work, which occupies a unique space between Surrealism and Art Brut, is found in major museum collections, including the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York.
