Ivan Grilo was born in Itatiba, Brazil, in 1986. His artistic practice investigates historical documents and photographic archives to explore themes of memory, political power, and Brazilian identity. He frequently employs materials like cast bronze and aged documents to create installations that recontextualize forgotten narratives. Grilo was a finalist for the PIPA Prize and his work is held in the collections of major institutions, including the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum, MoMA, and the Museu de Arte de São Paulo (MASP).
