Born in Tokyo and based between Dakar and Grenoble, Mabeye Deme is a photographer whose practice revolves around the street life of Senegal. He is known for using experimental techniques, such as photographing through a semi-transparent torn tent fabric, to create silhouettes that appear painterly and timeless. His work explores the relationship between the photographer, the environment, and the traces of memory found in daily urban routines.
