Edward Steichen was a pioneer of modern photography who collaborated extensively with Rodin. He famously photographed Rodin's sculptures, including the Balzac monument, using dramatic lighting to capture the expressive power of the sculptor's work. His photographs are part of the museum's permanent photographic archives.
