Danil (Danil Panagopoulos, 1924–2008) was a pioneering figure of the post-war European avant-garde. He studied in Athens and Paris and was closely associated with the Nouveau Réalisme movement. His work is noted for its use of humble materials like cardboard boxes and burlap to create three-dimensional works that challenge representational conventions.
