Born in Giannitsa in 1955, Giorgos Tsakiris studied electronics before pursuing painting and engraving at the School of Fine Arts in Florence. He was a professor at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. His work often incorporates traditional Greek textiles (velentzes) and natural objects like tree trunks into three-dimensional totemic structures.
