Born in Weida, Thuringia, Carsten Fock is known for expressive paintings and felt-tip pen drawings that often combine text and image. He studied at the Städelschule in Frankfurt under Per Kirkeby. His work frequently addresses social and political issues as well as the tension between landscape and history, particularly in the context of postwar East-West German relations.
