Ilse Henin studied at the Kunstakademie Karlsruhe under Horst Egon Kalinowski. Her long-standing practice is centered on drawing, with themes revolving around interpersonal communication, fragility, and feminist concerns. She was a co-founder of the 'statt-museum' alternative exhibition space in Düsseldorf.
