DESCRIPTION
Guo Jian was born in Guizhou and served as a propaganda officer in the People's Liberation Army (PLA) before studying at Minzu University. His experiences in the military and as a student protestor at Tiananmen Square in 1989 inform his satirical, pop-style paintings that critique propaganda and political power.
