Born in Tianjin, Wang Zhiyuan studied printmaking at the Central Academy of Fine Arts (CAFA) and later completed a master's degree at the Sydney College of the Arts. He served as an art tutor to Judith Neilson and a consultant during the founding of the White Rabbit Gallery. His practice often involves large-scale installations and 'fragmented wall sculptures' that distort the scale of everyday objects.
