Zhang Peili

DESCRIPTION

Considered the pioneer of video art in China, Zhang Peili was born in Hangzhou and graduated from the Zhejiang Academy of Fine Arts. He was a founding member of the Pond Society and established the New Media Department at the China Academy of Art. His work often uses repetitive or mundane imagery to explore themes of social control and the forces shaping Chinese life.
