Based in New York, Cai Guo-Qiang is famous for his site-specific explosion events and drawings made using gunpowder. His work draws upon Eastern philosophy and contemporary social issues to engage with nature and society on a global scale. He received the Golden Lion at the 48th Venice Biennale.
