Born in Inner Mongolia, Cang Xin gained prominence in the 1990s as a member of the Beijing East Village artist collective. His work is heavily influenced by shamanic beliefs and explores the relationship between humans and nature through performance, photography, and installation. He is particularly known for his 'Communication' series, where he interacted with objects using his tongue.
