Esme Timbery was a celebrated Bidjigal elder and artist known for her intricate shellwork, a tradition passed down through generations in her family at La Perouse. She was famous for her shell-covered models of the Sydney Harbour Bridge and slippers, winning the inaugural NSW Parliament Indigenous Art Prize in 2005.
