Based in the Southern Highlands of NSW, Nathan Hawkes works almost exclusively on a large scale with dry pigment pastel on scratched paper. His practice is grounded in the sensations of the drawing process, using rudimentary mark-making to embody atmospheric states and the shifting dynamics of his home environment.
