Copper sculpture and installation
Shireen Taweel is a Sydney-based multidisciplinary artist whose practice explores diasporic landscapes and fluid identities. She is best known for her work with copper, using heritage artisan techniques like engraving and hand-piercing to create sensorially immersive installations informed by Arabic science, ritual, and celestial navigation. She is a 2024 Clothing Store artist-in-residence at Carriageworks and recipient of the 68th Blake Art Prize.
