DESCRIPTION
Newell Harry is an Australian-born artist of South African and Mauritian descent living and working on unceded Gadigal land. For over 15 years, his work has explored personal histories and connections between Oceania, the Asia-Pacific, and South Africa's Western Cape Province. His projects often reference colonial migration, identity, nomadism, and myths, using language and archives as primary materials. He is a 2024 Clothing Store artist-in-residence at Carriageworks.
