John Mawurndjul is a senior Kuninjku artist from western Arnhem Land. He is celebrated for his mastery of 'rarrk' (cross-hatching), a traditional technique he has innovated for contemporary audiences. He won the Clemenger Contemporary Art Prize in 2003 and was the subject of a major retrospective in 2018.
