Anya Paintsil is a textile artist who combines traditional hand rug-making techniques with Afro hair-styling methods. Her largely autobiographical practice draws inspiration from her childhood in Wales, family stories, and Welsh and Ghanaian mythologies. Her work often incorporates weaves, braids, and synthetic hair to explore themes of identity, femininity, and gendered labor.
