Born in England and raised in British Columbia, Ian Wallace is a central figure in the Vancouver School of photo-conceptualism. His work juxtaposes monochrome painting with photography to examine the relationship between the two mediums. He was a long-time professor at both UBC and Emily Carr University, significantly influencing generations of Vancouver artists.
