Anishinaabe artist Rebecca Belmore is a member of the Lac Seul First Nation and is known for her politically conscious performance and installation work that addresses history, place, and identity. She was the first Indigenous woman to represent Canada at the Venice Biennale (2005) and has received the Governor General's Award in Visual and Media Arts.
