Jean Raine was a Belgian artist associated with the CoBrA movement, initially contributing as a poet and filmmaker before turning to painting. His artistic style is deeply influenced by surrealism and action painting, resulting in expressive and quasi-calligraphic works on paper. He spent the latter part of his life in Lyon, where he continued to develop his exuberant and figurative imagery.
