Abu Bakarr Mansaray

DESCRIPTION

A self-taught artist and inventor, Mansaray creates intricate technical drawings and sculptures of futuristic, often terrifying, machines that reflect the trauma of the civil war in Sierra Leone. His works are filled with dense annotations and scientific calculations, blending science fiction with a witness's account of modern warfare. He is considered a pioneer of the Afro-futurist movement in visual arts.
