DESCRIPTION

Fred Sandback is known for his minimalist sculptures that use lengths of acrylic yarn to define three-dimensional volumes in space. By stretching these lines between architectural boundaries, he created transparent, barely-there structures that engage the viewer’s movement and perception. His work radicalized the definition of sculpture by focusing on the 'empty' space between lines rather than solid mass.
