Born in Bozen, Italy, Andreas Zagler studied at the Munich Academy of Fine Arts under Karin Kneffel. He uses purely painterly means to create illusions of spatiality and depth, treating the still-wet surface of the canvas as a site of temporal interaction. His work captures the traces of human action and human action itself, effectively binding time onto the pictorial surface.
