The founder of Spatialism, Lucio Fontana is most famous for his 'Cuts' (Tagli) and 'Holes' (Buchi) in canvases, intended to open up the space behind the picture plane. His work integrated time, space, and matter, challenging the two-dimensional limits of painting.
